Arthur Clair Smith, 99 of Tucson, passed away on December 15, 2021, at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SAVAHCS) hospice unit after having suffered several strokes. The family would like to thank all the staff at SAVAHCS for their excellent care and kindness in his final days.
He was born November 20, 1922, in Millersburg, OH to Bertus and Hazel Smith. Art was a World War II veteran who served in the China-Burma-India Theater. He married Marna J. Smith on January 25, 1947.
Surviving are his 3 children, David, Deborah, and Beth (Steve), 3 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nina Belle Kasner.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, Glen, and Robert Smith; two sisters, Nora Mae McKee and Ila Fae Weirick.
Art lived a long, full life and remained sharp-minded to the end. He enjoyed shuffleboard, westerns, playing cards, caring for his grand dog Samson, visiting with friends and family, and driving around in his golf cart. He was blessed to live independently for most of his years. He is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
