Leah Banner I still cannot believe my dad is gone. His absence will be felt every single day for the rest of my life. And my heart will always be broken. I was his “baby grill” and he was my “fasha”. There is nothing on this earth that can replace the hole that is left in my heart. I will miss our talks and his stoic advice, and that he was one of the few who “gets” me. He was taken from us too soon, though I know he is pure love in heaven now and I will see him again. I miss him so much, it’s hard to imagine that life goes on without him. It’s hard to stand that I won’t get a hug from my big old dad anymore. I cherish everything that you gave me, dad. You were so funny, and sweet, and handsome. Thank you for being the best dad. I love you so much. Please look after me from above. I miss you so much.

Margie Bellmer Don could start a conversation with anyone, and soon they were smiling. He seemed so happy to see you and made you feel like you were the important one, always interested in what was happening with you. It was always such a pleasure to run into Don and Sylvia, such a fun happy couple. Don was such a special man who will be dearly missed. His big heart and friendly manner have been passed down to his wonderful children. Sending Sylvia, Chuck, Ryan, and Leah my love.

Sandra LeVar Thinking of Uncle Don today. I have so many fond memories … but two stand out. In 1977 we went to visit Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Don in Little Rock Arkansas. I had THE best time!! Uncle Don was so very much fun to play and wrestle and romp and generally be a Tom Boy with!! I remember running around like little wild things (with my younger sister Shannon) and getting an Atta Girl !! He was larger than life, and Aunt Sylvia adored him so much that we adored him too and pretended we’d grow up to marry him! (Silly Girls, HaHaHa!) Flash forward to my relationship as an adult and never ending love for my Fun Loving Uncle Don. I was at a Highland games in Enumclaw late one night while drinking a bit of whiskey when my husband Joe saw Uncle Don in his police uniform across the park. I jumped up (my entire 5’2” height) squealed (because, whiskey) and ran (as fast as my little legs would go) to tackle my Uncle Don in a huge bear hug!! Luckily Uncle Don was a straight forward man who quickly and directly informed his partner that “Ah, she’s ok. It’s my wife’s niece.” He gave me a Huge Bear hug (because, Uncle Don) and after we talked for a few minutes, sent me on my way. One of my biggest regrets is that the hug was one of my last from Uncle Don. I never imagined that would be true. My heart is broken. May he Rest In Peace.
