Dorita Lucero Estrada

June 19, 1950 - February 07, 2022

Dorita Lucero Estrada was the eldest child born on June 19, 1950 in Fair Acres, NM to Ebaristo and Ramona Rodriguez.

She lived her life in Las Cruces, NM until age 18 when she married Danois Estrada Jr. of Mesilla, NM.

Danois’ military enlistment into The Army provided Dorita the opportunity to travel the country extensively. During this time she was a hairdresser and had graduated from Beautician School. Their first child, Deidre was born in 1972 on a military base at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey during their travels across the US.

Dorita and Danois eventually settled into home life back in Las Cruces, NM where, in 1978, Dorita’s second child Daniel was born.

In 1980, Dorita and family moved to Los Angeles, CA where they remained for many years.

Dorita shared her love of the ocean, horror films, and books, especially her favorite authors Stephen King and Edgar Allen Poe, with her children and grandchildren.

Her laughter and smile would light up a room; she was the best person to invite to any party as she loved to be entertained and was an engaging guest in any situation.

Dorita’s ability to stay calm and problem solve was an excellent skill and many friends would come to her for advice.

Dorita’s love of fun activities at her work place were a constant enjoyment, she created and participated in many team building projects. Her favorite projects were the office door decorations for the holidays. Halloween was her favorite and she had her grandchildren help with the decorations many times.

Dorita worked in taxes and finance management for many companies in the Southern California area. She was the Accounts Manager for Mark Hughes who founded Herbalife, The Hemmeter Collection, Lapidus Popcorn, BCBG Max Azria, and Mesilla Valley Transportation.

During these years Dorita converted to Christianity from Catholicism and studied and completed her degree in Christian Ministry.

Before she could pursue further endeavors, in 2013 she was diagnosed with a long term illness which put her on oxygen. She retired to focus on her health and moved to North Hollywood, Ca with her immediate family.

Her health was improved and stabilized by the wonderful doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, Ca including her loving caregivers Gerald W. Dailey Sr. and Jr. and her nurse Richard Brown.

In 2015 Dorita moved to Las Vegas, NV with her immediate family, where they enjoyed more years together.
