February 21, 1937 - June 21, 2022

Gerald Burtosky of Tampa, FL passed away at Advent Health Hospital Tampa on June 21, 2022 at the age of 85.

Gerald “Jerry” Burtosky was born in McKeesport, PA on February 21, 1937 to John Burtosky and Elsie Thomas Burtosky. He attended Conneaut Lake High School in PA where he was VP of the math club and voted best dressed male his senior year. He moved to FL and obtained an Associates in Arts Degree from Broward Junior College in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Jerry retired as a Senior Tax Auditor from the State of Florida division of Business Regulations with over 30 years of service and enjoyed post retirement work helping individuals with IRS tax preparation services. Until his recent move to Tampa, FL to be closer to his daughters and their families, Jerry resided in Arcadia, FL with his partner of 31 years, Jennifer Morton. 

Jerry enjoyed playing golf, watching golf tournaments, and sharing many memories of golf! He enjoyed shopping (for himself …clothing), spending time with family and friends, swimming, reading John Grisham novels, walking, solving puzzles, watching sports, and cheering on his favorite sports teams, especially the Miami Dolphins. Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1954 as a Seaman Apprentice., completed Class A Radioman School in Norfolk, VA (April 1955), and held the rank  of  Radioman 3rd Class (1956). In 1958 he transferred to the Reserves in Charleston, SC, earning a National Defense Service medal that year. Jerry was honorably discharged from the US Navy in July 1962.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Michelle Hunter (Richard Hunter) and Lori Meglino (John Meglino) of Wesley Chapel, FL, 5 grandchildren (Anthony Hunter, Jessica Hunter, Marisa Meglino, And twins Ashley and Kayla Meglino) of Wesley Chapel, FL, his sister Darlene Sadlo (Art Sadlo) of Plantation Acres, FL, half siblings (Anita Burtosky-Mays and Carol Lucidi of PA) and an extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Elsie Rack, stepfather Victor Rack, father John Burtosky, brother, Jack Burt, and half sibling Robert “Bobby” Burtosky..
