Priscilla Ann Carvalho

August 02, 1946 - August 28, 2022

On Sunday, August 28, 2022, Priscilla Ann Carvalho passed away peacefully at the age of 76 with her husband and daughter by her side. Priscilla was born on August 2, 1946, to Samuel Padilla and Frances Ontiveros in Los Angeles, California.

Priscilla entered the workforce upon graduating from Lincoln High School. She loved to travel and often spoke of her international travel adventures. She fell in love with the name Monika while traveling in Germany. Over ten years later she would go on to give her daughter that very name.

Priscilla started working at Union Oil in 1966 as a key punch operator. She worked her way up through the company while honing her organizational skills and eventually became a graphics programmer in the same department as a handsome young man by the name of James.

Priscilla and James had a whirlwind romance, despite James’ chronic medical condition. They were married on July 5, 1980, and later welcomed their two children Monika and David. They moved to El Granada in 1985 where they would raise their family. They lived on the coast side for 28 years before retiring to Sonoma County to be closer to their growing family. Priscilla was delighted to live near her young grandchildren and loved being a Nana to Estelle and Desmond.

Always one to be organized and free of clutter she started her own professional organization business in 1991, Symmetry and Order. She stayed active in NAPO. The National Association of Productivity and Organization, for decades and had many fascinating clients over the years, some of whom became friends.

Priscilla’s eye for color and design led her to pursue art classes at the local community college in the early 2000’s. She discovered a passion for sculpture and later painting. She won a second-place ribbon in the Sonoma County fair for her painting in 2015.

Priscilla was active in her church community at Saint Edmunds Episcopal Church in Pacifica, California, serving on the Bishop’s Committee for many years. She made Cursillo in 1989 and stayed active in the Cursillo community as well eventually serving as the assistant head cook. She became involved with her beloved Church of the Incarnation upon moving to Santa Rosa in 2013. She found a new community to share in fellowship and faith by joining the Knitting Pearls and making lots of warm hats, scarves and gloves for Open Table, she became a regular coffee hour volunteer, and was an active member of the Welcome Committee in charge of making and organizing the Sunday service name tags.

Priscilla will live on in our hearts forever. She will be remembered for her amazing cooking, kind spirit, and warm smile. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother.

Priscilla is survived by her husband James Carvalho, her children and their spouses Monika & Kevin O’Donoghue, and David & Synthia Carvalho, and grandchildren Estelle and Desmond O’Donoghue. Priscilla is also survived by her siblings Joanne Gleicher, Carolyn Munoz, Samuel and Patricia Padilla, and Anthony and Stella Padilla.
