Isaias Vargas

May 04, 1941 - December 20, 2020

Isaías Vargas Villatoro aka Chaias, 79 of Surprise, AZ passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020.

He was born in Guatemala, Guatemala on May 4, 1941 to Humberto Vargas and Lucrecia Villatoro.  He married Maria T. on 1981 and in December 1982, May 1984 and January 1986 he welcomed his children: two daughters and a son.  Each of them had a special place in his heart and he made sure to always remind them of how much he loved them and why.

He traveled to Chicago, IL between 1965 - 1985 and in 1995 he decided to leave Guatemala behind to follow his dream of providing a better life for his family. He moved to Kenosha, WI with his wife and children. He left family, friends, the church he served at for many years ‘Vision de Fe’ and a life back in Guatemala, but this is what he felt he needed to do in order to provide and make dreams come true for his family.  In 2020 he moved to Surprise, Arizona to be closer to his grandkids and enjoy the warm weather.

Isaias enjoyed getting up by dawn to read his Bible and pray for his family and love ones.  He constantly checked in on family, friends and those dear to his heart, in Guatemala, WI and throughout the USA.  He always made time for those who shared their struggles with him and ensured there was enough time for a prayer at the end of each conversation.

He will be remembered for the many jokes he told, the many pranks he pulled on people, his love for Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and FC Barcelona.  He enjoyed watching sports, action movies and never missed ‘Vision de Fe’ online services, led by his dear friend and Pastor Vladimiro Vasquez every Sunday and Wednesday.

He was a man of God who lived and walked by the Word of God.  In the past few years, he enjoyed reading Jewish literature and celebrating the Jewish Holidays.

Isaias is survived by his wife Maria T. Vargas, his three children Lilian J. Vargas (grand dogs: Kamo and Astro), Humberto I. Vargas, Gabriela J. Chávez (grandchildren: Mateo and Lily).  His three siblings Edwardo Vargas Sr, Leonel Villatoro and his favorite sister Judith Ortiz (or as he liked to call them: Choreke, Leopo y Ponte), as well as many others who admired and looked up to him as a father/grandfather figure, who he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Lucrecia Villatoro and Humberto Vargas) and youngest brother (Mardoqueo Villatoro).

He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
