Danny Leonard Abbott

March 18, 1956 - May 30, 2024

Danny Abbott, age 68, of San Mateo, CA, passed away on May 30, 2024. He was born on March 18, 1956, in Burlingame, CA, to Leonard and Barbara Abbott.

Danny is survived by his beloved mother, Barbara Abbott, and his two brothers, Mark and David Abbott.

Throughout his varied career, Danny always took pride in his work. From his time as a truck driver to his roles in construction and working in a body shop, he found fulfillment in each job. However, his greatest pride came from painting cars, where his skill and dedication truly shone.

Danny had a deep passion for classic cars and motorcycles. He often tapped into his artistic side, designing custom parts and artwork for his cars and bikes. This creative expression was a hallmark of his character and was reflected in his love for these hobbies.

Known for his good heart, Danny had a soft spot for the cats in the neighborhood, ensuring they were cared for. He was always willing to go out of his way to help those around him and was known for stopping to chat with neighbors and friends, brightening their days with his friendly demeanor and genuine interest in their lives.

Memorial service will be held July 22 at St. Timothy’s Church in San Mateo, CA. Doors will be opened at 5:30 pm and services will start at 6:00pm.

Danny will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and his love for classic cars and motorcycles will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association or the Homeless Cat Network in Danny’s memory.

Barry Haussler My deepest condolences to the Abbott family. Dan was such an incredibly kind person, he was always offering a helping hand. I always had great respect for his knowledge of vintage cars. He showed me how to detail my vintage corvette for an entire day! We will miss you, Dan. Rest in peace. 🙏🏻

Sid Shimabuku My deepest sympathy to the Abbott family. Danny was the best friend a guy could have. You could shoot the shit for hours talking and talking so long as the Budweiser was plentiful and cold. He was a perfectionist from painting cars to metal etching or building model boats from wood. This was one talented Guy. Going to miss you Bud Sid
