Arthur Edward Curtis

May 11, 1934 - June 08, 2024

Reverend Arthur Edward Curtis, UU Minister Emeritus, died at Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Tualatin, Oregon.  He was born in Oneonta, NY, to Catharine Simon Curtis and Elbert Lewis Beers Curtis. He led a full life of study here and abroad, teaching and researching in the field of history, then next directing a Humanities Council, and lastly, becoming a Unitarian Universalist minister with fellowships in Alabama, Idaho, Saskatchewan, and Anchorage, Alaska. After retirement, he moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon, and married Susan Lyden. Art was known for his kindness and generosity, his courtliness, his playfulness,
his sweet disposition and radiant smile, and the grace and courage with which he faced the ravages of Alzheimer's. He is deeply missed by his wife Susan, his sister Emily Mandelbaum, his nieces Ruth and Audrey Mandelbaum, and Erica and Brenda Curtis, his nephew Rodney Curtis, one grandniece and three grandnephews. Sadly his brother Charles Curtis predeceased him by only a few months.  Services of remembrance and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
