Ann Raquelle "Kelly" Schopmeyer (née Braun), 74, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Kelly was born on November 5, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the eldest of twelve children and embraced her role with warmth and dedication. Throughout her life, she remained a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always placing family at the heart of everything she did.
Kelly married C. Lee Schopmeyer, and together they built a life filled with love and shared experiences over fifty-three years of marriage. They split their time between Indiana, North Carolina, and Florida, enjoying new places while always cherishing time spent with their family. Kelly and Lee found joy in working on projects together and especially treasured moments with their grandchildren.
A passionate educator, Kelly dedicated thirty-nine years to teaching elementary school students—twenty-nine years in Indiana before retiring to Florida, where she continued teaching for another ten years. Her commitment to education left a lasting impact on countless young lives. Teaching was not just her profession; it was her calling.

Grant Schopmeyer (Kelli); and her beloved grandchildren: Ian La Mar, Emerson La Mar, Braeden La Mar, Julia La Mar, Zachary La Mar, Simon La Mar, Cooper La Mar, Riley Thomas, and Ramsey Thomas. She is also survived by eight brothers and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Braun and Mildred Braddy Thomasson Braun, as well as her grandson Gavin La Mar.
Kelly’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched as an educator and the deep love she shared with her family. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
