Frank Junior Moriconi

December 04, 1940 - October 18, 2025

Frank Junior Moriconi, 84, passed away at 1:20pm on Sunday, October 18, 2025 at San Francisco Kaiser Permanente after a short illness. 

A longtime resident of San Francisco, Frank was born December 4, 1940 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Italian immigrants, Aurelio “Frank” Moriconi and Rose Saccaro. He was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings, Jennie (Moriconi) Likens, Carolyn (Moriconi) Galassi Cervellone, and Robert “Bob” Moriconi.

Frank grew up in Springfield, attending Harvard Park and Feitshens High School, where he graduated in 1958. At a young age, Frank became an athlete and an accomplished football player. He went on to pursue higher education at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois where he graduated in 1965. After schooling, Frank moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked as a math professor for a number of years along with coaching football. 

In the 1970s, Frank made his home in San Francisco, California and remained there for the duration of his life. Frank was extremely passionate about music and movies. Known by most as “Frank The Music Man,” he attended countless concerts and music programs throughout his life and up until his death. He was a longtime member and attendee of the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco. He was a major fan of all kinds of music. Frank had a special love for jazz and similar genres of music. His love for movies was another hobby that he partook in throughout his life. Frank was a huge 49ers fan, his knowledge of football was like no other. 

Frank was a popular man with many friends and family that loved him. He was known by many as a person easy to talk to and knowledgeable about pop culture. He lived an eventful and active life. He will be remembered and missed by everyone that knew him.

Frank passed leaving behind a niece, Cytree (Bill) Shomidie, grandnieces and grandnephew, Megan, Kelsey, and Dylan Shomidie, and great-grandniece, Journey Shomidie, all of Springfield. He also leaves behind one sister-in-law, Barb Moriconi, one aunt, Wanda Saccaro, both of Springfield, a best friend, Tom Brancato, of San Diego, California as well as many many other friends.

Frank will be cremated with his ashes spread from the Golden Gate Bridge.
