Joanie has been in my life for over 40 years. We go way back to Seattle University and her tutoring students in the Alcohol Studies Program and our volunteer time at the Alcohol/Drug 24 Hour Helpline.
We had so many fun times with Wendy, Mercer Island, dinners, playing musical instruments, singing, playing games, and just laughing and giggling at each other.
I spent many nights with Joan as I traveled back and forth from Battleground and Minnesota to Washington State. I helped her clean and organize so many of her belongings. That was a definite challenge, to say the least.
I was able to spend many nights with Joanie while she lived in Everett. We took many road trips to visit with her dearest friend Wendy. The three of us made a terrific team.
Joanie loved to cook and prepare incredible meals for me. She was a chef among chef's. I remember when she had a catering business that kept her busy in her favorite room, the kitchen.
Joanie surrounded her home with so many photos and mementos, it was like being in a museum.
I am so very grateful for the years we had together. Our family stories, our love for decorating, our love for our sobriety and the years working within that field; not to forget the long conversations about our environment and how our lives have intertwined.
I miss you Joanie. You are a true friend and thank you for all the years of love and devotion.
Take care my dear.
Peace, love and God Bless,
Storey
