Mark Roy was born in Downey, California on July 1, 1963 to Karen Lamb and John Roy. He attended Warren High School, and graduated from the School of Hard Knocks.
Mark Roy loved spending his life with his family and friends waterskiing, camping, listening to music, and riding his motorcycle in nature.
Mark was/IS a stargazer. Mark told me that one of his favorite times in his life was when he had his van because he could park his van at the beach with the back doors wide open so that he could gaze upon the stars, moon, and the moonlit waves crashing onto the ocean shore.
Mark gave the most heartfelt hugs. When Mark hugged you, you felt all of his love envelop you. Mark was often there for his family and friends in their time of need. Mark would literally give the shirt off his back to help a loved one.
Mark was courageous and heroic. Mark saved a passenger that was trapped inside their burning car, as well as saving a family who was trapped in their burning motor home.
Mark “donated” his time putting out fires in the Angeles National Forest.
Mark Roy is survived by his daughter, Alexis Porter, his granddaughter O’ryin Sanchez, his siblings, brother Glyn Roy, and sister Michelle Loree. Mark, I pray that your family were all there to greet you as you “sailed across the sun”, and “danced along the light of day, and head back to the Milky Way”. I hope that “Venus blows your mind” and that you found “everything you wanted to find” and every July 1st, I will wish for you to “miss me while you are looking for yourself out there.” I will fulfill my promise to learn the song, “Drops of Jupiter” for you, so that I may sing it to you, Mark. I love you.
