John L. Cook of Valrico, FL passed away at home on March 4, 2022.  He was a resident of Valrico for over 60 years.

John was born in Bowling Green, FL on April 24, 1936 to John Lawrence and Verola Cook.  He graduated from  Brandon High School in 1955.  He married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Sweat in July of 1956.  He was a Millwright, Engineer, Mason and Master Mechanic.  

John was an avid fisherman, always on the lake if he had any free time.  He loved tinkering on cars and playing with his grandkids.  He was a mentor to his grandsons, teaching mechanical skills, welding and building projects.  John had many friends and will be truly missed.   

John is survived by his sister, Iris Wyly of Blackshear, GA, 3 daughters; Cynthia Fletcher, Loretta Blocker and Darla Dillard and husband Jeff Dillard all of Valrico, FL.  John had 2 sons, John L. Cook Jr. and Ralph Cook, both of Valrico, FL.  He had 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; an extended family and numerous friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen in November of 2011.

A Celebration of Life will be held on John's birthday, April 24, 2022.  He would have been 86.  The celebration will be at Medard Park in Plant City, FL from 12:00 - 4:00 pm.
