On the afternoon of February 25, 2022, John Leland Dodds of Cerritos California died from congestive heart failure at the age of 93. John was born to Paul and Theresa Dodds in Eugene, Oregon in 1928. After collage and service in the army, John worked with his father and eventually he took over The Paul L. Dodds Company on Dodds Avenue in Buena Park CA. The company designed restaurant interiors and manufactured restaurant furniture for many decades and is known for inventing the self centering swivel seats seen in many restaurants all over the world. John’s favorite hobbies were riding bikes, skiing and hiking. He only stopped riding his bike in the last 6 months before his death just shy of accumulating enough miles to have circumvented the globe. He was also an avid reader of history and studied current events. He loved to invent new or improve upon existing products. John was first married to Darlene in 1950. They divorced in 1974, he then married Sara in 1975 till they divorced in 1988. John is survived by his four children from his first marriage, as well as three grandchildren.
