Gina Marie Kinast

March 09, 1960 - July 05, 2022

Gina Marie Kinast, age 62, died unexpectedly and went to her heavenly home on July 5, 2022.

Gina was born in Chilton, WI, on March 9, 1960, to the late Gordon and Lilly (Fischer) Schmidt. She graduated in 1978 from Brillion High School.

Gina was a friendly, outgoing person who was comfortable and sociable in any setting. Despite a series of health challenges - cancer as a young adult, side effects related to her cancer treatment, and a devastating motorcycle crash more recently, she persevered with grace and good humor. All this abetted by a lifelong commitment to the power of God and a strong faith in His grace, a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

In 1978, Gina met her husband, Ricki Kinast, and they married on September 25, 1982, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul, WI. Following a long career as a trucker and in the paper industry, she and Ricki set off as motorhome travelers and enjoyed the freedom of the road until it came time to put down a new set of roots in Tucson, Arizona.

Gina will be missed by her loving husband of 40 years, Ricki; brothers, Gordon (Glenna Rose) Schmidt and Michael Schmidt; sister, Jo Delle (Steve) Carroll; sisters-in-law Dede Federwitz and Brenda Zipperer; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lilly Schmidt; father-in-law and mother-in-law Arthur and Evelynne Kinast; sister-in-law, Sandra Schmidt; brother-in-law, Roland Zipperer and several beloved dogs and cats.

The family wishes to thank the first responders that helped to care for Gina.

Memorial services will be held at a later time. A memorial fund will be established for Crosspoint Lutheran Church in Sahuarita, AZ.
