Nancy Adele Davidson

November 08, 1932 - August 31, 2022

Nancy Adele Cameron Davidson was born November 8, 1932 in Great Falls, Montana to John Cameron and Gertie Haugen. The oldest of three children she was followed by brother David and half-brother John.
Nancy attended public school in Great Falls where she was very active in several social/civic clubs as well as band and orchestra where she shared her tremendous talents with her flute.  She was a leader in Rainbow Girls, part of the Masons.  She enjoyed a variety of outdoor sports and was always active.  As a young adult, she bicycled through Europe.
After graduating from high school in 1950, she enrolled at Northwestern University and later Montana State College where she earned a B.S. in business in 1954. She then went to work For Carter Oil in Billings, Montana.
She married Pete Davidson in 1959 and they moved to Kotzebue, Alaska.  While Pete pursued his career with the FAA, Nancy went to work for the U.S. Public Health system.  While in Alaska they adopted two children, both as infants--Glen and Lisa.
Upon moving to Boise in 1975, Nancy went to work at St. Luke’s Hospital where she served as the administrator for the nursing scheduling department. Later she and Pete divorced. She became the office administrator at St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral in Boise, a position she held for over 20 years. One of Nancy’s greatest joys came from singing in the Cathedral Choir at St. Michael’s.  Every Sunday, every holiday, every Evensong you could hear Nancy’s beautiful soprano voice and often her flute.

In addition to her office duties at the church, Nancy became a Lay Eucharistic minister and pastoral caregiver.  She would take communion to and visit shut-ins and the elderly. She derived great joy from these visits.

Nancy was an active and generous patron of the arts. She enjoyed meeting friends for dinner and going to the opera, the philharmonic and ballet, and the occasional Shakespeare play. She shared her passion with those closest to her. She was a generous donor to all of the above groups as well as a variety of other animal welfare, musical organizations and faith-based charities. She endowed multiple scholarships at Montana State University and Boise State University.

Nancy started exhibiting signs of multiple sclerosis in her late 60’s. She was determined to not let the disease rule her life. Thanks to the love, care and dedication of her former daughter-in-law Jongkon (May) Davidson, Nancy remained independent far longer than anyone would have supposed.

Nancy was preceded in death by both her parents and her step mother. She is survived by her children Glen Davidson and Lisa Werre, her brothers David and John Cameron and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on what would have been her 90th birthday, November 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.at St. Michael’s’ Cathedral.  Interment will be in the columbarium at St. Michael’s
