Rene passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022.  He was born on September 25, 1954, in Barstow, California, to Manuel Andrew Ruiz and Josephine Garcia.  Rene, a Vietnam Air Force veteran, also retired from Davis Monthan Air Force Base DOD. AMARC.
 
Rene is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maria D Ruiz (Lola); 2 sons, Rene P Ruiz (Nicole) and Manuel Ruiz (Lauren); 5 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Margot Padilla (James), Bridget Wolford (Brian) and Alma Villafaña; 5 brothers, Andy Ruiz (Barbara), Dale Ruiz (Josie), David Villafaña (Sam), Adrian Villafaña (Debbie), Adam Villafaña; and Dad, (Pop) David Villafaña (Lydia).
 
Rene is preceded in death by mother, Josephine Garcia Villafaña and father, Manuel Andrew Ruiz; and also 1 sister, Darlene Barela.
 
A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 11:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, located at 1950 West Irvington Place in Tucson.  Military Honors will take place immediately following Mass, also at Our Lady of Fatima.  Reception will follow Mass at American Legion Post 68, located at 4724 South 12th Avenue, Tucson, 12:30pm-3:30pm.
