Geneva was raised and attended schools in Tennessee and came with her family to Niagara Falls at the age of 17. She retired in 1984, after 30-plus years of service, from Nabisco Shredded Wheat. In her younger years, Geneva was active in Lockport Assembly of God Church and their Women's Ministry. She enjoyed crafts and had a silk flower business in the 1980's, in which she would provide her flowers for any event or craft show.
