March 22, 1949 - July 07, 2023

Loren D Tyler III
March 22, 1949 – July 7, 2023

Loren D. Tyler III, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2023, at his home in West Hills, CA.

He was born on March 22, 1949, in Muskegon, MI to Loren and Luella (Boucher) Tyler.

He is survived by his Sister and Brother-in-law, Luanne and Judson Forsyth of Norton Shores, MI along with his Nephews and Niece-in-laws, Rodger & Faith Chartrand and Mark & Monica Chartrand. He is also survived by 3 Grand-Nephews and 4 Grand-Nieces as well as 3 Great-Nephews and 3 Great-Nieces.

He graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1967 and shortly thereafter joined the Army with his life-long friend John Mills. Loren served two tours in Viet Nam and earned a Bronze Star Medal which is awarded for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement or meritorious service in a combat zone.

Loren lived a full life and worked at various jobs including farm work as a boy and young man, honorable service in the United States Army, factory work, selling men’s clothing while living in Detroit for a while, Electronics Technician while living in California, entrepreneur when he moved back to Michigan in 1988 and an Associate working at Costco when he moved back to California in 2009. In 1981 he attended college at The DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, OH and earned an Electronics Engineering Technical Certification making the Dean’s list. He landed a great job in California with TimeShare Corporation in 1984 which was acquired by McDonnell Douglas in 1987.

When his Father passed away in 1988, Loren moved back to Michigan to care for his Mother. Shortly after his arrival back in Michigan, he secured a job at the Muskegon Paper Mill and a few years later he married Betty Cole and they lived on Pontaluna Road in Norton Shores, MI.

Years later he started his own business by investing in an AIM Postal Center franchise that was located on Apple Avenue in Muskegon. MI. He longed to move back to California where he loved the sunny warm weather, so he moved West in 2009 and secured a job with Costco where he worked until he retired in 2014. Unfortunately, he suffered a stroke in December of 2009 which made it difficult for him to write, but he was still able to work a few more years.

In retirement, he enjoyed cruising to a local park and listening to talk radio most mornings followed by lunch and an enjoyable, leisurely afternoon. He enjoyed frequent visits with Rodger & Faith and their four children as he lived on their property. Rodger was able to take Loren on annual business trips to Las Vegas where he thoroughly enjoyed staying in an executive suite at the Luxor or Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino , great gourmet food, gambling and various shows. He also enjoyed socializing with his fellow members of American Legion Post 826 where he served on the Executive Committee and as Sergeant at Arms.
