Henrietta was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 13, 1933 to Leo Spingarn and Minna Spingarn. She moved to Los Angeles, California in the late 1950's where she had resided ever since and worked for Bank of America for many years before retiring.

She is survived by her Son, Gregory Whilden, and grandsons, Christopher Whilden and Sean Whilden, her Brother Joseph Spingarn. her nephew Jared Spingarn, and nieces Marla Spingarn, Rebecca Arnesty, Marcy Arnesty, and Janet Arnesty.
