Carmen Maria Bassel was born in Alajuela, Costa Rica.  She was married to William Bassel for fifty-five years until his death.  Carmen was a dedicated housewife, loving mother to her three children Alexander, Lillian and Evelyn, grandmother to seven grandchildren, known for her beauty and excellent culinary skills.  She lived in Costa Rica, Venezuela, Spain and the United States and traveled throughout Europe and the United States.  Her life has been exciting and adventuresome and throughout her 99 years, she was always a beautiful and resilient woman.
