Michael Alton Penley, age 78, November 7, 1944-September 15, 2023
Mike was born in Denver, CO and passed away September 15, 2023. He grew up in
Sedalia with brother James 1938-2008, sister Carol 1942-1997, father Tracey 1911-1960, and mother Ruth 1909-1996. Mike was known as a cowboy/rancher wearing Levi jeans, western shirts and cowboy boots. He was a bachelor until age 43 when he married Judy Petersen in 1988, and no children. In 1966, he hired in at Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) as an electrician for over 38 years when he retired at age 60. He loved his Blue Healer dogs for many years and was an excellent dog trainer. Playing cribbage was a favorite past time which he learned at age 6 from his grandpa, Frank Penley. Vacations and retirement days were traveling with Judy in their motorhome from coast to coast. Branson, Missouri was a favorite place with memories of shows, camping, fishing, boating and making new friends.
His entire life Mike lived on Hwy 67, Sedalia, CO and will be greatly missed by his wife Judy, many relatives, and lots of friends. It is sad to say good-bye to the last Penley pioneer of Sedalia. (written by Judy Penley).
