Ms. Chitra Chakraborty passed away at the Inland Valley Care and Rehab Center in Pomona, CA on November 25, 2023. She was 77. She immigrated to the United States in February 1971, from Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, after receiving her Master’s degree (MA) in Economics from Calcutta University. She has been an avid reader and extremely knowledgeable in world affairs. She was a freelance writer all her life while working in various areas such as in banking, real estate, computer science, teaching, libraries, etc. She lived in West Los Angeles and Claremont for all her 53 years of life in the USA, the last 48 years in Claremont, CA. Chitra’s father (Nihar Chakraborty) predeceased her in 2001 and her mother (Ivy Chakraborty) in 2021. She is survived by her two brothers. The older brother (Tushar Chakraborty) lives with his family in Kolkata, and her younger brother (Utpal Chakraborty) lives with his wife (Helen) in North Carolina.
