Felipe Reynoso

May 01, 1952 - December 04, 2023

Felipe Reynoso, 71, passed away in his home on December 4, 2023. Born on May 1, 1952, in Jalisco, Mexico, to Jose Cruz and Maria del Rosario, Felipe spent his childhood working on the ranch with his family. Demonstrating courage from a young age, he left home as a teenager, traveling to Tijuana, where he was warmly embraced by his Aunt Inez, Tio Estaban, and cousins whom he regarded as sisters.

It was in Tijuana where Felipe met his wife, Duby, his Chaparrita. Together, they embarked on a journey towards the American Dream, eventually settling in Los Angeles, California. There, they raised their children, worked hard, and proudly purchased their home on Mozart Street, a cherished residence that remained close to Felipe's heart.

Felipe, a man of many talents and professions, cherished his role as a Class A truck driver most. His love for driving 18-wheelers was paralleled only by his passion for running. An accomplished athlete, he ran over 20 marathons, numerous half marathons, and 10ks, even qualifying for the prestigious Boston Marathon.

He had a knack for being self-taught and was known as a man who could do it all. Felipe enjoyed restoring classic cars, landscaping, home remodeling, and sharing his musical talents on the keyboard and drums in bands and church choirs. He was an avid fan of Chivas and the Dodgers. However, his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play baseball and karate.

Felipe's travels took him across Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean, and various states in the U.S. As a father and grandfather, he was exemplary, leaving a legacy of love for God, family, and friends. He is remembered for his warm smile, compassion, humility, determination, hard work, and optimism, always providing a helping hand and an open heart to those he called friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Duby Reynoso; children, Felipe Reynoso and Maricruz Somarriba; their spouses Maria and Byron, grandchildren, Madelyn, Raquel, Andrea, Adrian, Philip, James, Benicio, Maite, and Mateo; 11 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Esther, Otilia, Emelia, and Ernesto.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Maria del Rosario and brother Placido.

Felipe's life was a testament to the American Dream, marked by unwavering love and dedication to his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
