She is predeceased by her father, mother, brother, sister Mary Mays Shorts and her husband William Shorts.
She leaves a legacy of love behind her in the hearts of her grandchildren, Makayla Flynn, Logan Flynn, Christian Moniz, Daniel Seibert, and her great grandchildren. The grandchildren share wonderful memories of their time with her and couldn't have had a better grandmother in their “Grannie Barb”.
In her youth, Barbara and the family moved often so that her father could continue to serve the Lord as a Pastor. Barbara loved sharing stories of her childhood along with her fond memories of the various churches in which her father served. As a young adult, Barbara developed a deep love of Christ and lived her life guided by God’s teaching. She loved her family, the church, the teachings of the Bible, being of service and loved to sing. She often spent time singing along to gospel legends Gaither Trio, The Oak Ridge Boys, and the Hoppers. Her life was not always easy, but she leaned on the Lord and developed a great sense of humor.
Barbara was a wonderful Southern cook and leaves behind her special recipes and food memories to her children. Barbara never missed an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. She played along from home and enjoyed that hour of television. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those that met her. A celebration of life will be held by her family and she will be cremated in accordance with her wishes.
