Jose Calingo Enriquez

April 15, 1940 - January 07, 2024

Jose “Joey” Calingo Enriquez, 83, of San Francisco, California passed away peacefully on the day of Epiphany, Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 4:29 pm due to complications of heart failure.

Jose was born in San Nicolas, Pasig, Philippines on April 15, 1940 to Valeriano Javelleonar (Leal) Enriquez of Bocaue, Bulacan and Teofila Cruz Calingo of San Nicolas, Pasig. After Jose graduated from Rizal High School in 1957, he went on to study Drafting at the Philippine School of Arts and Trade, now Polytechnic Institute of Technology in Manila. Being a talented artist, he also pursued Fine Arts at the University of the East in the Philippines.

After graduating, he started his first job as a Designer and established a silk-screen printing business in the Philippines. When he migrated to the United States, he worked at Bechtel Corporation as a Construction Designer for more than 10 years, traveling to different states for work.

On March 6, 1967, Jose married Jovita Francisco in Pasig, Philippines. They went on to have four children, Roderick, Francisco, Ricky, and Gio.

Jose retired and spent time with his family and close friends. He lit up the room with his jokes, and always knew how to make people laugh. He loved to dance the boogie and his friends would attest to his good dancing skills. He loved eating Chinese food. He also loved watching sports, particularly the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers. He definitely lived a good, long life, always according to his terms.

Jose was predeceased by his parents Valeriano and Teofila Enriquez, his wife Jovita Francisco Enriquez, his siblings Floro Enriquez, Arturo Enriquez, Leticia Enriquez, and Alexis Enriquez, and his son Ricky Enriquez. He is survived by his sister Vizminda Montuano, his brother Marico Enriquez, his children Roderick Enriquez, Francisco Enriquez, Gio Enriquez, and his ten grandchildren Kent Jerome, John Anthony, Jerika, Joshua, Francis Josh, Juliana Francis, Franchesca, Francis Mhaye, Francisco Jr., and Princess Jillian.

Services will be held at Jose’s hometown in the Philippines. His final resting place will be at Pasig Catholic Cemetery in Pasig City with his family.
