Charles (Chuck) Ray Hugo of Vallejo, CA, passed away on January 21, 2024. He moved from Hemet, CA, to Vallejo, CA, to live with his son, Kirk, after the passing of his wife, Peggy Massey Hugo. They married in 1960, facing many struggles and even more victories in their 57 years of marriage, leaving an example for younger generations. Overcoming happens when you stick to your commitment and adapt when possible.
Chuck was born in Bell, CA, on Sept. 4, 1941, to Glenn DeWayne Hugo and Colina Jeneve Smith Hugo. He attended the school of hard knocks, earning a high school diploma and eventually an AS from Mt. San Antonio College. He worked as a truck driver, then a shift manager, eventually transitioning to Quality Control.
Chuck enjoyed golf for many years, developing lifelong relationships with his brother-in-law, Bob Gubrud, and close friend, Whitey Walters. He also belonged to several bowling leagues in his lifetime.
Chuck is survived by his sister, FloraLee Winters, daughter Cathe and her husband Dennis Lowry, daughter Diane and her husband Kyle Britton, son Kirk and his wife Michelle Hugo, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Chuck was predeceased by his wife, Peggy Hugo, his brothers Glenn Hugo Jr., and Richard Hugo, and great-granddaughter Lola Mary-Rae Rogers.
