My name is Jim Evangelist and I would like first to offer my condolences to John's wife, Lisa, his two daughters, grandchildren and friends on his passing.
I met John, or as we called him "Shea" while working in the sewer department at the city of San Bruno. He gave me the nickname "Jimmy E". We hit it off early on because we were about the same age and grew up in the same area. John had a reputation as being quite a character at work, and I can attest to that being true. He also was, first and foremost, a dedicated civil servant to the residents of San Bruno. I was often assigned to accompany John in the flusher truck (his truck) during which he preformed one of the important jobs in civil service. That job being to make sure the City sewers operated properly. When I rode with John I was amazed that everyone in the city knew and loved him because of the help he provided them in their hour of need. John was the second longest serving employee in San Bruno's history a total of 41 years. I learned a lot from John and appreciated working with him. I know John was proud of his career and I want his family to be as well. Rest In Peace, John, your pal Jimmy E.
