Franklin (Buck) Delano Roosevelt Tyree, Jr.

September 23, 1961 - January 27, 2024

Franklin (Buck) Delano Roosevelt Tyree, beloved son of Agnes Kern Showalter, was born on September 23, 1961, in Lynchburg, VA. He unexpectedly passed away on January 27, 2024, at his home in Carmel Valley, CA.

Buck, as he was affectionately known, grew up in Iron Gate, VA, surrounded by the love of his sweet Aggie. He was preceded in death by his mother Agnes, brothers Dale Tyree and Hank Shaver, and sister Judy Stackpole.

Buck had a zest for life and a passion for creativity. He excelled as an artist, showcasing his talent through drawing, painting, and carving. Photography was also one of his many passions, capturing moments and emotions with his keen eye. He found inspiration in the works of The Living Drums, a band he adored.

Those who knew Buck would say that he loved nothing more than spending time with his beloved fur baby, Scooby. He cherished their moments together, just as he cherished the stories and the love he shared with his sweet Mama, Aggie. Buck had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Buck had a wanderlust spirit and had traveled all around the world. Among his favorite places was Carmel Valley, a sanctuary where he found solace and beauty. He had a particular fondness for ice cream, enjoying any flavor and always having popsicles ready in his freezer for visitors.

In addition to his creative pursuits, Buck served in the United States Army and was a proud member of the Monacan Tribe. His love for animals, especially pit bulls, was evident in his advocacy and care for them.

Buck will be fondly remembered by his siblings, Frances, Debra, Kenny, Frank, Kissy, Farron, Otis, and Conway and his cherished friends, including Steve, Johnny K, Jason, Johnny S, Dorne, and Robbie, among many others.

He lived life on his own terms, marching to the beat of his own drum. His unique spirit touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed.

In honoring Buck's memory, let us always remember to live every day to the fullest and to always be willing to help others whenever we can. May he rest in eternal peace.
