James Allen Bartlett

November 14, 1947 - April 02, 2024

James Allen Bartlett (AKA Rumi Missibu) was born November 14, 1947, in Los Angeles, California to Earl Oliver Bartlett and Ruth Irene Brown Clune. He passed away very peacefully in his sleep on April 2, 2024, at 8:14 in the morning at his home in Oakland California.

From the time he was very young, Jim had an extraordinary amount of creative ambition. His positive and outgoing demeanor showed him where his true passions lay. Acting in the theatrical field became his passion since he attended middle school. It gave him true happiness and meaning to his life. He attended drama club in high school and college, in California. Acting gave him self worth and opened up a whole new world to explore. Jim took off to search for his place in life right out of high school. He moved to the San Francisco Bay area in the late 60’s and took on a new name for himself, Rumi Missibu. He wandered the world, for many years, and spread his love for the theater, to those he met. Traveling kept him focused, but also it kept him apart from his family until 2018. He settled in the Oakland, California area over 15 years ago. His immediate family found him in August of 2018. From that moment on, his life had so much more purpose added to his already meaningful life. Jim never married and he had no children, but his life was full nonetheless. For many years he created friendships with people all over the world. He became a best friend to everyone he encountered. This became a beautiful life with so much meaning for him. After his immediate family found him, it only added more love to his heart. This brought him into a full circle of love and fulfillment during the final five years of his life. His passing leaves behind an enormous void within the hearts of his family and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl Bartlett and Ruth Brown Clune and his younger sister, Linda Gail Bartlett, half-brother, Bill Bartlett, and half-sister, Bette Mayner. He is survived by his sisters Mary Bartlett Dobyns (Lonnie), Debbie Mitzlaff (Mark); Nieces Tami Douglas (David), Shawna Robinett, Celeste Pence, Patty Crosmer (Gene), Gail Zone; Nephews Jerry (Rowdy) Berry (Terri), Joe Robinett Jr. (Elizabeth), Billy Bartlett; many great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services TBA.
