Michael Fredrick Hall, lovingly known as "Mountain Man Mike," passed away on November 9, 2024, in Santa Cruz, California. Born on April 3, 1972, Michael was a proud Santa Cruz native who found peace and joy in the mountains and redwoods that surrounded his hometown.
An avid bicycle enthusiast, Michael embraced the outdoors and the freedom it brought. He spent many years as a talented chef at the Seascape Resort before transitioning to work as a tow truck driver and pursuing freelance opportunities. His diverse career reflected his adaptability and hardworking spirit.
Michael is survived by his mother, Jacalyn Hall Fernandez of Hollister; his father, Fredrick Jerome Hall of Sacramento; and his two brothers, Lonnie Taylor Johnson of Watsonville and Matthew Allen Hall of Santa Cruz. He also leaves behind his seven beloved children: Byron and Riley Hall of Oroville, California; Jacalynn and Trevor Hall of Texas; and Grace, Landon, and Jillian Hall of Watsonville. Michael’s extended family includes many cousins, among them his close cousins Stacey Pedroso, Stephanie Lovell, and Carisa Crow.
Michael's love for life and the outdoors will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family plans to honor his memory with a memorial in the springtime, his favorite season. Further announcements will be shared at a later date.
