It is with heavy hearts that we share that David Paul Isaias Nixon (née Warren Robert Hibbard Jr.), 58, passed away peacefully at Loma Linda University Medical Center on April 10, 2025 after many months of health complications. Born on November 15,1966 at the now closed Anaheim Memorial Medical Center to young parents, Mary Johnson and Warren Hibbard, David was raised by his mother in the Norwalk, Downey, and Lawndale areas, alongside his younger siblings, Michael, Sarah, and Danny. While attending Nursing School at Cerritos College in the late 1980s, he met the person he loved most in this world, his wife, Maryann. They married on November 24, 1990 in Carson. Soon after, they traveled, lived on a boat in Long Beach, then moved to Hawaii for a chunk of the 90s before moving back to Washington state to start their family, which would eventually consist of 5 children and their cousin, Zoe, Cristian, Sommer, Jeanelle, Jayden, and Joshua, respectively. As traveling nurses, they would live in Washington, Nevada, Colorado, and California, before settling in Southern California in 2010.
In his life, David loved to tell jokes (we wished he stuck with Dad ones), learn about random topics of interest (still have his phrase books in various languages), and study the Bible and the stars. Some of his favorite movies were Kurbick’s Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, and The Evil Dead trilogy. Music-wise, he loved his Classic Rock, always playing Queen, Fleetwood Mac, The Bee Gees, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bread, Chicago, and The Eagles when he could, with a healthy dose of Weird Al.
He was a devoted Christian, but more than that, he was a devoted husband. While imperfect in that and his fatherhood, their love for each other was a remarkable test of time and he opened his eyes to see her one last time.
David is survived by his wife and children and will be missed, though we are glad he is no longer in pain.
David will be cremated and in lieu of a service, we invite you to share condolences and any memories here.
