With deep love and gratitude, we remember Cathy Jane Givens, a strong, loving mother and devoted grandmother whose nurturing spirit touched everyone she met. Cathy had a gift for connection – she was a true people person, never passing up an opportunity for conversation, and earning the affectionate nickname “Chatty Cathy.”
Cathy was passionate about her family, her faith, and her role as a grandma, which brought her the greatest joy. She was an active member of Mission City Church and proudly a graduate of Purdue University. Her days were filled with talking, loving, and lifting others up.
She was known for her motherly nature – not just to her own children, but to friends, neighbors, and anyone lucky enough to find comfort in her presence. Cathy had a heart big enough for everyone, and a home always open to those in need.
Her favorite words were: “I love you to the moon and back, infinity and beyond!” – a perfect reflection of how deeply and endlessly she cared for others.
Cathy was preceded in passing by her beloved parents, James and Norma and her brother, Stephen. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Stephen, Kimberly, and Briana, and by her grandchildren: Harmony, Kamilah, Kenya, Dariah, and Kenyon. She also leaves behind her cherished dog, Teddy. She worked tirelessly throughout her life to support her family, and her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
A celebration of Cathy’s life will be shared with family and friends.
The family wishes to thank everyone for the love of our mother and for the support of our family through this difficult time.
