It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Clifford Roy Maddox, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed this life on March 27, 2026, at the age of 73. Cliff's journey ended peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his cherished family.
Cliff was born on December 24, 1952, in Casa Grande, Arizona, to a family that would come to embody the values of love, perseverance, and resilience. He attended East Union High School in Manteca, California, where he began to form the friendships and skills that would serve him throughout his life.
In 1969, fate brought Cliff to Stockton, California, where he met the love of his life, Lana Renee. They married in May of 1970, embarking on a shared journey filled with love and devotion. Together, they welcomed two sons into the world, creating a family that would see them through life's joys and trials. Their eldest son, Clifford Roy Maddox Jr., was born in September 1970, followed by their second son in September 1974.
Cliff's professional life was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic. He began his career as a mechanic with the Ford Motor Company, later honing his skills as a welder before finding his true calling as a truck driver. Cliff spent 35 years on the open road, a career he cherished deeply, retiring only in August 2025.
Beyond his work, Cliff was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in the gentle lapping of water against a fishing line, the crackle of a campfire under a starlit sky, and the peaceful act of gardening. Most importantly, he cherished every moment spent with his family, whether it was sharing stories on the porch or gathering for a home-cooked meal.
Cliff's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Gene Maddox, granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Maddox, brother, Robert Maddox, and sister-in-law, Doris Wickey. Yet, his legacy endures in those who survive him: his devoted wife of 55 years, Lana Renee Maddox; his son, Clifford Roy Maddox Jr., and daughter-in-law, Margarett "Maggie" Maddox; grandsons Johnny (Amanda), Derrick (fiancé Peter Canzani), and Anthony Tompkins; great-grandchildren Hayden Caulder, Daniel, Scarlett Maddox, and Melody Tompkins; and his dear extended family, Mary Kane, Racheal and Scott Haygood, Glenda and David Pometta.
Cliff was a man who gave generously of himself, always ready to lend a helping hand. His kindness and warmth touched all who knew him. In his family, he fostered a sense of unity and love that will continue to bind them together, even in his absence.
As we bid farewell to Cliff, we hold his memory close, with the promise that he will be deeply missed and loved until we meet again. In the words of his family, "We all love you." Cliff's spirit will forever be a guiding light, reminding us to embrace each day with love and gratitude.
Funeral services will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cliff's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his generous spirit.
