It is with deep sadness and profound loss we announce the passing of Melissa (Cloak) Pittman on March 31, 2026 due to ongoing health conditions.
Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, Josetta Cloak; siblings Dessie Blevins and Charles Peterson Jr.; grandparents Dessie and Rev Charles Peterson Sr.
She is survived by her sibling, Andrea Green; children, Andrea Ecxford (spouse Maurqus Sr and their children Maurqus Jr, Daenerys, Xcess, Osiris and Iris); Dwight Cloak (children Josiah, Khaza, Kaylan, Kamiya, Kyrianna and Kohen) and Bill Cloak (children Tatiana, Ni'Ya, Zoe, Jaden, Rylan and Harlem); nieces Joey, Fallon, Kirstin, Tressa and nephews Kenneth and Desmond; grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.
Melissa was born in Chicago, Illinois but grew up in Madison, Wisconsin where she attended middle and high school. In her youth, Melissa was a free spirit and wild child, sometimes getting into trouble. As she matured, she settled down and rebuilt important relationships with family and friends becoming a good mother, sibling and friend.
She resided in Portland, Oregon for a few years before returning to Madison. She later moved to California to be close to her grandchildren and reside in a warmer climate. Unfortunately her health began to deteriorate over the last few years and she was no longer able to do the things she loved so much; travelling, spending time at the casino, cooking home-made meals and spending quality time with friends and loved ones.
Melissa was a genuinely giving and sweet person who made friends easily and was a joy to be around. She will be sincerely missed by all.
A Memorial Service is planned for a later date and details will be provided.
