Calvin Laverne Jones Sr., age 86, of Elk Grove, California, passed away on April 22, 2026.
Calvin was born on December 7, 1939, in Onawa, Iowa. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961 as a Hospital Corpsman.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Marie Jones (1943–2013), and his son, Calvin “Kelly” Laverne Jones Jr. (1963–2019).
Calvin is survived by his children: Catherine “Cathie” Hunt (Jones) and her husband Daniel Hunt; David Jones and his wife Cindy Jones; and Jeremy Thomas-Sanchez and his husband Jhaziel Sanchez-Thomas.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Anthony and Jenna (children of Cathie); Derick and Madison (children of Jenna); Carter (son of Anthony); and David Jr. (son of David).
He will be remembered for his love of traveling with his partner, Cynthia “Cindy” Rodriguez; his commitment to VFW Post 1267; enjoying a good drink; playing golf; and, most of all, spending time with his family.
Calvin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
